One man has been charged after a fatal incident at Olympic Plaza on Thursday.

According to police, patrol officers found a man with life-threatening injuries at the City Hall CTrain station at around 3 a.m. The victim later died in hospital.

“It is believed the fatal altercation occurred in Olympic Plaza and that the victim made his way to the CTrain station before collapsing,” said CPS.

The service said that officers used the real-time CCTV video from Calgary Transit, along with witnesses to locate the suspects in the stabbing.

Now, Calgary police have charged Kyle Westcott, 26, with second-degree murder. The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Donovan Moose.

“This was an early morning, completely unprovoked attack on a defenseless and vulnerable victim,” said Staff Sergeant Sean Gregson of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit.

“It was due to the exceptional work by our patrol members in coordination with investigators that led to the quick identification and apprehension of two suspects related to this homicide. It was then that our homicide investigators were able to identify a suspect and make an arrest quickly.”

The homicide is Calgary’s eighth for 2023.

Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or submit tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
