Flames and Hitmen fans, and visitors to Stampede Park and surrounding areas alike will begin to see some major detours starting on Wednesday.
Starting on March 15, Green Line Construction will cause road changes on 11 Avenue SE and 4 Street SE, a major access road to the Saddledome and Stampede. The construction work will continue until mid-June, and local access to buildings along 11 Avenue and 12 Avenue will be maintained.
Further road changes will be coming to the area, as the Stampede’s SAM Centre and the 17 Avenue SE Extension and Station Rebuild begin major phases of construction this year.
“We’re thrilled that so many major city-building projects are underway in Calgary’s emerging Culture and Entertainment District (C+E), but we know that construction of this nature can be disruptive and that navigating the resulting traffic and pedestrian detours is inconvenient,” said Kate Thompson, President and CEO of CMLC.
“We are confident that the C+E will be an exceptional destination for Calgarians and tourists alike when complete, so we appreciate Calgarians’ patience while we bring the vision to life.”
CMLC has launched a live detour map available at www.cedistrict.com/access-map, and the City of Calgary has full details on road closures and detours due to the Green Line at www.calgary.ca/content/www/en/home/green-line/green-line-construction/green-line-construction-updates.html.

Discounted parking, alternative routes available

Parking at the lot will be $8.
