Calgary Expo’s announced their first guest Wednesday, after teasing the big announcement via social media.

Director Sam Raimi, widely known for his work on the original Evil Dead franchise and the original Spider-Man trilogy, along with Oz the Great and Powerful and the new Doctor Strange movie, will be at this year’s show.

The Calgary Comics and Entertainment Expo will celebrate its 16th year, running April 27 to 30 at Stampede Park.

Raimi will appear on both Saturday and Sunday at the Calgary Expo. He’s available for autograph signings and photo ops (for a fee) and he will be doing a live, on-stage Q&A. Panels are included with ticket purchases.

“Calgary Expo is a place for celebrating the fandoms that unite us,” said Andrew Moyes, VP, Fan Expo HQ.

“We’re known for making magic for fans by providing once-in-a-lifetime chances to interact with pop culture icons, and Mr. Raimi is an excellent example of that – he’s also just the beginning.”

Expo organizers say more announcements will be made in the coming days and you can find them on calgaryexpo.com and on their social media.

Single-Day Tickets and Four-Day Passes, as well as Deluxe and Premium Packages, are available now at advance ticket prices. For tickets and more information visit calgaryexpo.com.
