The annual festival of Caribbean culture was back in a big way on Saturday, as the colourful carnival inspired parade took over Stephen Avenue.
Floats and dancers representing the nations surrounding the Caribbean made their way from Olympic Plaza to Shaw Millennium Park.
Carifest began in the 1980s after members of Calgary’s Caribbean community formed the CanCarib Association, with the goal of fostering an understanding that the culture was more than just food and music.
