Patio patrons got to see a parade of pooches on 17 Avenue SW on Saturday.

The 90s themed dog walk saw nearly two dozen dogs, and their owners, dressed up in the fun bright pastels of the decade Who Let the Dogs Out was recorded in.

And owners didn’t have to take a trip back 23 years to party like it was 1999, at a stop at Made by Marcus for ice cream.

The walk was organized for the clients of the PAWS Dog Daycare by owner Eric Young.

“We wanted to do something fun with our customers… but we wanted to do something a little bit different, so we talked to the staff and we kind of came up with a dress up,” said Young.

“And since like, you know, ’90s are kind of coming back, we thought it’d be kind of cool to do like a ’90s dress up,” he said.

The walk was the first time the clients of PAWS were able to get out in a group walk since the beginning of the pandemic. Young said that this is hopefully the beginning for more big group dog walks, and the ability to enjoy each others company again.

“I mean, we we do spend a lot of time with our customers—you get to know them, we treat everybody like family of course, but being able to do these extracurricular activities does add another level of intimacy between everybody.”

As for how the dogs enjoyed it, most were too busy enjoying some ice cream to give LiveWire Calgary a quote.
