Steel Magnolias, the beloved play of Southern charm and Louisiana tears that became a hit 1987 movie, has returned to the stage at the Max Bell Theatre.

Theatre Calgary is putting on an all-female production of the play, including cast and creative team. The show runs from March 8 through April 3.

Patrica Darbasie, Norma Lewis, Allison Lynch, Katelyn Morishita, Lauren Parken, and Donnon Root are starring in production. Valerie Planche, who directed Theatre Calgary productions of Skylight and Bad Jews, is directing.

“Working with this ensemble of women artists, all standing together doing our craft is really meaningful for me,” said Planche.

Tickets are available online at the Theatre Calgary website, and range from $48 to $103 for regular performances. Limited rush seating is available for $25.

Theatre Calgary also requires all patrons to wear a mask, and show proof of vaccination to attend.
