Calgary police seeking driver in fatal hit and run

The Calgary Police Service has requested the public’s help in locating a driver who struck an killed a pedestrian earlier this month.

At approximately 2:15 a.m. on Oct. 1, the driver of a light-coloured pickup truck struck a 35-year-old man in the westbound lanes of 50 Avenue SW between Macleod Trail and 1 Street SW.

The man, who was not discovered until 2:35 a.m., was later transported to the hospital but died of his injuries. The pedestrian was discovered by a rideshare driver.

Police described the vehicle as an early 2000s pickup truck, light-colored, and with possible damage to the front of the vehicle from the collision.

Police have asked that anyone with information contact their non-emergency telephone at 403-266-1234. Anonymous tips can be given to Calgary Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or on their website.
