With Calgary’s historic heatwave in the rearview mirror, a factor not often considered is the sizzling temps on our sidewalk and road surfaces. With temperatures reaching record highs across the country, roads and other paved surfaces got dangerously hot.

(This is especially a problem for your pets, too!)

We conducted a tiny experiment to see just how hot the pavement got and included what some cities are doing to beat the road heat. Check out the video below.
