Calgary police investigate daytime jewelry store robbery in the northeast

Calgary police are investigating after tear gas and pepper spray were used in a daytime robbery at a northeast Calgary mall.

At around 1:30 p.m. Saturday, two masked men entered Sunridge Mall at 2525 – 36 Street NE and went to the Paris Jewellers store. When they were inside, they used tear gas and pepper spray before stealing several items in the store.

During the robbery, the suspects threatened staff with guns, police said.

The first suspect is described as a white male, with a Puma hoodie and wearing a medical mask. He wore blue jeans, white gloves and carried a green shopping bag.

The second suspect was described as a white male wearing a black motorcycle helmet, black gloves and carrying a black duffle bag.

The suspects fled the scene in a brown/gold SUV, police said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has cell phone footage of it, or if they have information on the identities of the suspects, is asked to call the Calgary Police at 403-266-1234.
