Calgary police are on the hunt for a suspect in a year-old violent sexual assault in the southeast.

Photos of the suspect are now being released with the hope it brings in additional clues in the case.

On July 14, 2019 around 4:45 a.m, police were called to the 500 block of 44 Street SE in the community of Forest Heights after reports of a woman being sexually assaulted by an unidentified man.

When they arrived, they found a woman suffering life-altering injuries, police said. According to police, the woman spent three months in hospital.

To this day, she continues to recover.

The male suspect is described as tall, between 6’ and 6’2”, with a slender build and is believed to be in his teens or early 20s.

“This was an extremely traumatic assault,” said Det. Jeff Anderson of the CPS Sex Crimes Unit, in a prepared statement.

“The victim fought very hard to survive and our investigators are committed to finding the person responsible and holding them accountable.”

The victim had no prior interaction with the suspect and investigators believe that the attack was random.

Anyone with information about this assault or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact police by calling the Sex Crimes Unit Tip Line at 403-428-8175 or the non-emergency number at 403-266-1234.
