No Calgary Stampede, but we’ll get a taste of the fireworks

We might not get the 2020 Calgary Stampede, but we’re going to get a couple nights of fireworks.

And they say they’ll be even bigger and higher than normal so you can see them from across the city.

The Calgary Stampede will be lighting up Calgary on July 3 and 12 at 11 p.m. with the Bell Fireworks Spectacular.

“This is going to be an incredible show and we can’t wait to share the experience with our community,” says Dana Peers, President & Chairman of the Stampede Board, in a prepared release.

Stampede Park will be closed for the event. The entire area will be used as staging for the fireworks event, the Stampede said.

There will be a live broadcast and online streaming of the fireworks, so they can also be enjoyed from the couch in your home. The live broadcast will be on CTV Calgary. If you find a spot to view the Calgary skyline, you can tune into Funny 1060 for the music soundtrack.

“It’s a fireworks show for everyone – in your yard or in your home. We encourage you to find a safe place, and show Calgary’s spirit,” said Peers.

The Calgary Stampede worked together with the City of Calgary and Alberta Health Service to make the fireworks happen.
