Police believe missing Calgary man a victim of homicide

Police are currently seeking help from the public to find a missing man.

Shane Eric James Smith, 20, was last seen on the evening of June 6 in the community of McKenzie Towne.

Calgary Police now believe Smith may have been the victim of a homicide.

It is believed that Smith was killed late Saturday night at a residence in the Southeast.

Police have released the following statement.

“Sometime between 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2020, and the morning of Tuesday, June 9, 2020, Smith’s vehicle, a gold 2002 Nissan Maxima, was driven and parked near the bridge over the Bow River on Deerfoot Trail S.E., at the southern city limits”.

The investigation is ongoing and police are still looking for suspects and possible witnesses.

According to Smith’s family’s Facebook post, Smith was wearing blue jeans, black hoodie and black shoes. 

Investigators are looking to speak with anyone who drove over the bridge between 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 6 and the morning of Tuesday, June 9 and have dash camera footage.

Photos of Smith’s car can be found on the The City of Calgary Newsroom website.

Investigators are also asking that anyone who may have seen or spoken with Smith before he was last seen is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
