If you’re looking for bargain bulk clothing buys, there’s a new social enterprise location for a longtime Calgary non-profit.

More Store by the Calgary Women in Need Society More Store offers clothing items for men, women and children through donations.

WINS said in the past three months, the demand from Calgarians for services and programs has spiked due to additional financial pressures from COVID-19. The store will help service WINS’ five Family Resource Centres, Free Goods Referral Program, Retail Ready Employment Service and Charlie’s Children program.

WINS said More Store is a more economical way to purchase thrift clothing at bulk pricing. There’s a spike in demand due to recent market job losses,. It’s also reducing clothing waste sent to local landfills.

“We know wallets are tight for many Calgarians, so we’re offering a new way to shop thrift in Calgary,” said Karen Ramchuk, WINS Executive Director, in a prepared release.

“It’s good for the city, good for business and good for the environment.”

At More Store, all clothing is sold as-is at $1 a piece. The price will drop the more you purchase.

WINS already operates five thrift stores. They did have to cease operations during the recent coronavirus pandemic.

The store is located at Unit 141, 7007 – 54 Street SE. They’ve installed hand sanitizing stations at all entrances and limiting the number of customers allowed at a time.

All clothing that is tried on is quarantined for 24 hours before it’s back on shelves. All shoppers are required to wear masks and gloves, which they will provide.
