GoldHunt Canada is kicking off its latest treasure hunt on Saturday June 20

This is your chance to become a real-life pirate and fight for a chance to win $50,000

Individuals interested in participating can purchase map’s on GoldHunt’s website which will become active on June 20.

The maps contain clues and riddles which lead opponents across the city in search of the ‘treasure’.

The first team or individual to find the treasure will get to keep the prize which in this case is $50,000 in silver and gold coins.

Included in the treasure are eight, 1 oz Random Year Canadian Maple leaf gold coins which are worth $2641.16 a piece. The other coins are described on GoldHunt’s site.

Safe hunting

GoldHunt is making safety a priority and has made changes to comply with physical distancing orders. This year, the maximum amount of people allowed in each group is four.

Each captain must have a $35 map and each additional crew member must have a $25 map.

The teams, or “pirate crews”, can be made up of one captain and three crew mates.

The company’s site put out a statement reminding people to stay apart as much as possible.

“As you know, our Real Life Treasure Hunt is naturally designed to keep distance between our participants. (You don’t want someone seeing your answers, right?,” the statement read.

“It is imperative that you practice good judgement & follow physical distancing guidelines while you are out, solving riddles.” said the company.

GoldHunt also put out several recommendations including to travel in small groups, keeping hands sanitized and not to participate if you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.

GoldHunt suggests using technology and social media to work together.

“If possible, use technology to make collaboration easier. Get on Zoom, Facetime or Skype and work together from a distance. If you’re solo, you can join our online community by following our hashtag #goldhunt on all social media platforms including: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and TikTok!”

While the official treasure hunt doesn’t kick off until June 20, people can participate in practice riddles on GoldHunt’s Twitter account.
