LWC Shortcast: Why did Coun. Davison need to defend Jim Gray?

Monday’s Green Line committee meeting hadn’t even started.

Earlier in the day, a group of four Calgary city councillors put forward their idea for a ‘one line’ option for Calgary’s $4.9 billion Green Line.

After a day of administration presenting the latest option, public submissions, Coun. Davison found himself in the hotseat for some controversial remarks in defence of Jim Gray.

Gray is one of the people behind the greenlineinfo.ca group. They want the city to scuttle the north part of the line in favour of a longer southeast line. They also want the downtown portion above grade.

We asked the councillor about these remarks and for more information on the plan presented by Couns. Davison, Jyoti Gondek, Ward Sutherland and Peter Demong.

Committee expects to have a final alignment Tuesday. That alignment is supposed to be voted on at a full meeting of council on June 15.
