Two people have been arrested after a bicycle chop shop was busted and several high-end bikes recovered.

Calgary police said in early June they got a tip that high-end bicycles were being brought to a residence in the downtown. Police said they believe the Calgary stolen bikes were being traded for drugs and the serial numbers were altered before being sold online.

After an investigation, police from District 1 and the Online Stolen Property Unit raided a home in the 900 block of 18 Avenue SW on July 4. Nine bikes, worth an estimated $15,000 were recovered.

John Sterling Barrett Cramer, 28, and Dawn Marjorie Ings, 41 were arrested.

The investigation continues and police have since reunited three of the bikes with their owners. Six other bikes remain.

  • Haro single gear, black
  • Cannondale, silver
  • Electra Townie, black with teal trip on the tire
  • Marin, white, blue and black
  • Shiman Banshee, silver
  • Specialized Transition, grey and white

Proof of ownership is required to claim the bikes, police said. Inquiries can be made at 403-567-6142.
