Photos: SAIT students tackle Calgary Stampede Midway

One of the things we try to do at LiveWire Calgary is provide an opportunity for the less experienced and learning journalist to get published and have access to additional learning opportunities.

My longtime colleague and friend, photographer Candice Ward, and I, both teach part time at SAIT for their spring intake of journalism program students.

Candice teaches photography and she challenged students to hit the Calgary Stampede Midway to capture some images from the grounds – and the top photos would be published here on the LiveWire Calgary platform.

Here’s what some of the students came up with – enjoy their work!

Seon Yang captured this slam-dunk moment on the Calgary Stampede Midway. It’s was good enough to show you another.

Next up (below) is the high-flying motocross bikers catapulting themselves high in the air. Kaley Ramage captured a really hot… shot.

Games and rides are a popular item for photographers to shoot on the Calgary Stampede Midway. Here’s a handful of shots captured by the budding SAIT journalists.

Activities for the kids and some good old Stampede showmanship are also great items to photograph. Here’s our final two shots from this crop of SAIT student photos.
