Amber Alert cancelled after Edmonton boy found in Calgary

An Amber Alert has now been cancelled after an eight-year-old boy and his mom were located early Saturday morning.

Edmonton police issued a tweet early Saturday morning to confirm the news.

Police are crediting an off-duty officer from Calgary who they say spotted the child with his mother.

Edmonton police said in a news release that the officer saw the pair thanks to the Amber Alert, and that RCMP from Okotoks took the woman into custody.

Police say she has been charged with one count of abduction, and they say the boy has been returned to his father.

Police called the Amber Alert late Friday after the boy was allegedly abducted from school by his mother Friday afternoon.

Police said Noah Ducharme was taken from Waverley Elementary School in the city’s east end.

Police believe Noah was abducted at 2:50 p.m. local time. The Waverley website says classes are dismissed at 3:30 p.m.
