UPDATE: According to Tweets from Mayor Nenshi and Coun. Diane Colley-Urquhart, a snow-route parking ban effective 10 a.m. tomorrow (Wednesday) in Calgary. Waiting for more details from the city.

It’s October 2. Let us repeat that: IT’S OCTOBER 2!

Still, we all know that Calgary can get spectacular fall weather or spectacularly bad fall weather and we’ve managed to corral the latter this year (depending on your snow perspective).

Some parts of Calgary received 30cms of snow, while others… let’s just say not so much. It’s snarled traffic, delayed Calgary Transit and given Calgarians an early taste of what’s to come – and by that we mean it made you brush off cars and shovel sidewalks.

Environment Canada is predicting another 5 to 10 cm of snow during the day Tuesday, with another 5 cm overnight. Wind at about 15 km/h… so that windchill is going to be feeling around -8 Celsius. As of 6:47 a.m. Tuesday, there was a snowfall warning still in place.

But… ‘warmth’ is on the way. Environment Canada is also predicting a warm up to 5 degree Celsius Wednesday and even 8 Celsius on Friday. Don’t worry, it’ll all be gone by then, right?

Either way, we have a nice reminder of that first substantial Calgary snowfall for you below. Oh, and after that, tell us how you REALLY feel about having snow to start October.
