If you’re a smoker, you’ll have to hold out for a full game before having a cig at the Scotiabank Saddledome after the arena rolled out new re-entry policies for July 1.

According to the Saddledome’s website, as of July 1, exiting and re-entering the building any event at the Saddledome won’t be permitted.

In an e-mail to staff and Saddledome season ticket holders, they said it’s “in keeping with our commitment to safety and security, and as a result of a thorough review of best practices in the arena industry.”

The Calgary Flames declined to comment further, reiterating via email that this policy is standard among buildings this size and is best practice.

Along with this, the Scotiabank Saddledome will be smoke free “within and around all areas of the building, for all events once the doors of the building are open to the general public.”

This decision follows that of other arenas across Canada, including Toronto and Winnipeg in 2017 and Vancouver, Montreal and Ottawa prior.
