Kids were held indoors at a Calgary school Wednesday after a bobcat was spotted prowling around in a nearby ravine.
The Calgary Board of Education confirmed the sighting near the Olympic Heights School in the southwest community of Strathcona and that kids were kept inside while Alberta Fish and Wildlife officers attended the area.
CBE officials said that this is a fairly common occurrence at schools that are near forested areas and they work with Fish and Wildlife and the Calgary Police Service when necessary during these events.
Fish and Wildlife officers determined the area was safe. During the investigation, while the children were kept inside, adults were allowed to enter and exit the building.
