Video: Calgary police search for poppy box theft suspect

Calgary police are searching for a man they believe is responsible for a poppy box theft in the southeast.

Around 7 a.m. on Oct. 30, a man entered a gas station in the 0-100 block of Shawville Blvd SE. He approached the till and asked for a package of cigarettes, according to police.

As the clerk was turned and distracted, the man grabbed the poppy donation box on the counter and put it inside his jacket.  Police said the man then left without completing his cigarette purchase.

The man is described as 6’ tall, between 40 to 45 years old with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a baseball cap, black jacket and blue jeans. He was carrying a black bag with a shoulder strap.
