Calgary Police are investigating a second incident of an individual being struck by a C-Train in as many days this week.
CPS said that they were called to the Franklin LRT station at 10:58 p.m. on Aug. 10, after a man was struck and dragged by a C-Train.
The man, who was believed to be in his 30s, was said by police to have slipped and fell from the platform into the train tracks. The man was struck several minutes later by a northbound train, and was dragged for several metres.
“The man sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment,” said CPS.
Police are currently investigating whether drug impairment by the pedestrian was a factor in the incident. They said that alcohol, drugs, and speed were not factors from the C-Train operator in the incident.
The incident was the second this week after a woman was struck and killed by a CTrain at the Centre Street downtown LRT station on Aug. 9.
In that incident, a woman at the 7 Avenue SE and Centre Street crossing walked in front of a C-Train that was travelling eastbound.
Police said that the woman fell and became trapped under the train, being dragged for several metres.
She was transported to hospital with serious injuries, and later succumbed to her injuries, dying in hospital.
Calgary Police are asking anyone with dashcam footage of either incident to contact police at 403-266-1234.
