The Calgary Police Service (CPS) is investigating hate-motivated vandalization that has been ongoing for the past two weeks at a southwest Calgary little free library.
CPS said that starting on April 10, with the latest incident on April 20, white supremacist stickers and markings have defaced the library.
The owners of the little free library in Cedarbrae first removed the vandalism on April 10, believing it was an isolated incident, but were targeted two more times.
“Hate-motivated vandalism, especially on private property, has a significant impact on both the victims and the community as a whole,” said Constable Matt Messenger, Calgary Police Service Hate Crime Prevention Unit.
“Nobody should have to tolerate or be subjected to hate.”
CPS is asking for the public’s help in investigating these crimes, and is looking for anyone who may have witnessed the vandalism on April 10, 15, or 20 to contact police at 403-266-1234 or submit tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
