Calgary police have charged a woman in connection with a stabbing at the Lions Park LRT Station.
One woman was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition Tuesday evening after a fight involving several women at the station.
According to Calgary police, Brittany Mahingen, 31 was charged with one count of aggravated assault and three counts of failure to comply with a court order.
Mahingen will next appear in court March 31.
According to a CBC story published in May 2012, Mahingen was found guilty of manslaughter after her mom was found dead in a downtown highrise in 2010.
The Lions Park incident, coupled with other violence on the Calgary CTrain line, has prompted a call from Mayor Jyoti Gondek for city administration to take immediate action to curb the criminal activity.
Hours after the mayor said immediate action was needed, the Calgary police announced they’d laid 268 charges against 40 people. They intended to disrupt the drug trade that had taken hold of the CTrain lines.
Several weapons were seized, including multiple knives and both machetes and axes.
