Homicide detectives are investigating after a body was found at the Deerfoot Athletic Park on Feb. 16.
The body was reported to police by a visitor to the park at around 10:35 a.m. on Thursday. Police have considered the death suspicious.
“This investigation remains in the early stages and we are looking to speak with all potential witnesses,” said Staff Sergeant Sean Gregson with the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit.
“Individuals who attended or drove past the park this morning may have unknowingly seen something and may have critical information that could help investigators.”
Anyone who was at the park between 4 and 10:30 a.m. has been asked by police to contact investigators. Police have also asked for dashcam footage for anyone driving northbound on Deerfoot Trail between Memorial Drive and 16 Avenue NE for the same time period.
Police are working with with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to identify the deceased. An autopsy has been scheduled for Feb. 17.
