Falconridge shooting victim ID’d; police seek person of interest

Calgary police are releasing an image of someone they believe has critical information on a targeted shooting in Falconridge on July 4.

Police were called to the 0-100 block of Falsby Way NE on July 4 after reports of shots fired. When officers arrived, they found one man dead at the scene.

After an autopsy, the victim has been identified as 27-year-old Shakiel Ahkeem Bennett. The cause of death was a gunshot, according to the Chief Medical Examiner.

Police believe this was a targeted shooting and have no suspects in custody.

Investigators have learned that on the day of the shooting, the victim was travelling with an unknown passenger in a Black Nissan Rogue before the shooting. They arrived together at the home were the shooting happened, police said.

Police are releasing an image of the passenger with the hope of locating them. According to police, this person may have critical information to advance their investigation.
