A Calgary man is facing 25 charges after a weekend incident involving a stolen vehicle.
Around 12:30 p.m. July 2, Calgary police were called to a single-vehicle crash in the 100 block of Bermuda Drive NW. While on scene, the car fled, and a Calgary Fire Department firefighter was dragged.
The firefighter was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
With assistance from HAWCS and the RCMP, the suspect was taken into custody near Highway 24 and Township Road 221.
According to police, the man also allegedly rammed the vehicle of a Peace Officer who tried to conduct a traffic stop just outside Calgary. The officer received minor injuries.
An Esso gas station in Strathmore was also damaged, as was a railway crossing barrier and other police vehicles, police said.
Jakub Matthew Kornacki, 35, of Calgary was taken into custody and is facing multiple charges in connection with this string of incidents.
He will appear in court July 18.
