Infant death being investigated by the Calgary police

Calgary police are investigating the sudden death of a nine-month-old girl.

Officers were called to the 0 to 100 block of Falshire Place NE on Jan. 27 around 7:15 p.m. When they arrived, they found a nine-month-old girl unresponsive in the home.

Patrol officers provided a police escort to the hospital, but the infant died upon arrival, they said.

At this time, the Calgary police are investigating this as a suspicious death.

The Chief Medical Officer will begin the autopsy Jan. 31. Infant autopsies require specialized medical testing, and they can take several months to complete, police said.

The name of the infant won’t be released at this time.

Investigators spoke with family members over the weekend and they’re continuing to speak with witnesses.

At this time, no further details will be released.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 403-266-1234.
