Calgary police are investigating after a woman was found dead in a northeast Calgary home early Saturday.
Officers were called to the 100 block of Pinehill Road NE around 8:50 a.m. Saturday for reports of a deceased person at that location.
When officers arrived, a woman in her 50s was found dead in the home. According to police an autopsy will be done Monday.
One person was taken into custody, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, a man stabbed in a northeast fight last Wednesday has also died, police said.
Around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to 36 Street and Marlborough Drive NE after reports of an assault. When the officers arrived they found a victim with stab wounds. He was transported at that time to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The victim died early Friday, police said. He was identified as Gil James Scott, 51.
Joseph Russel Verhaeghe, 34, has been charged with manslaughter, according to police. Police don’t believe the incident was random.
