Man found dead in downtown Calgary apartment; homicide unit investigating

The Calgary police homicide unit is investigating after a man’s body was found in a downtown apartment on Monday.

According to police, they attended a welfare check with EMS at an apartment in the 200 block of 6 Avenue SE on Monday at around 2:15 p.m. When they arrived, they found a man dead in the apartment, police said. It was apparent the man had been dead for several days.

An autopsy was done Tuesday and they’ve since ID’d the man and confirmed that he died by homicide. The victim was identified as Michael Donald Lloyd, 42. Cause of death won’t be released at this time, police said.

Police are in the early stages of the investigation and aren’t able to release additional information.

They’re asking anyone with information on what may have happened at that location in the days prior to contact them. Anyone with information on the homicide is asked to call 403-266-1234.
