Earlier this year, buried paragraphs deep in a blog post on Calgary’s downtown, Ward 7 Coun. Druh Farrell announced she wouldn’t be running in the upcoming municipal election.

She was first elected back in 2001. Yep, it’s been 20 years.

We sat down with the councillor to talk about the past two decades of service to the city. Among the topics are why she made the decision not to run, successes, Calgary’s downtown, women in politics… and, what’s next for her.

Coun. Farrell even recalls her first notice of motion. It set Calgary down an environmental path… but took 10 years to come to fruition.

The service wasn’t always a joy; particularly long meetings of sitting, she said.

There’s several key quotes in the audio. We’ll leave you with one:

Your values are in your budget, not in your policy.

Enjoy the listen.

We talked with Ward 7 Coun. Druh Farrell about the last 20 years of service to the City of Calgary.
