Man in stolen car drives over a pedestrian, tries to steal another

Calgary police are looking for a suspect who allegedly drove over a pedestrian with a stolen vehicle and then tried to hijack another on Sunday.

Around 12:45 p.m. Sunday, officers were called to the 4600 block of 83 Street NW after they’d received several calls of a 66-year-old pedestrian being repeatedly run over. Police said the driver was in a stolen vehicle.

That victim was taken to hospital in non-life threatening condition.

When witnesses in the area confronted the suspect, he produced a gun. Then the suspect left the stolen car and tried to carjack another, according to police.

There was a struggle, police said, and the suspect fled the area on foot. He had taken the second victim’s wallet, according to police.

After a search of the area, police found the gun and some of the suspect’s clothes.

The suspect is described as white, in his 20s with a slim build. He could be wearing a ripped white T-shirt and grey sweat pants.

Calgary police are asking anyone with information to call 403-266-1234.
