Brasserie Kensington to close its doors, but new space will rise up

When one door closes, another window opens.

After 10 years in operation, the owners of Brasserie Kensington announced that they would be closing their doors.

Back in February 2019, Brasserie celebrated its 10th anniversary, and owners Cam Dobranski and Jaqueline Warrell were ready for a change.

“We felt like Calgarians were ready for change and we’d been planning a revitalization of this space. Something new for and for Calgary for several months,” said Warrell.

Brasserie already planned to close back in March but decided to hold off until the COVID-19 situation unfolded.

During the required lockdown, they have been busy with transforming the old Brasserie into what they have envisioned next.

“We’re looking to do something that is actually going to be really relevant,” said Warrell.

Both owners are excited to bring Calgarians something new to experience in Kensington, especially during these hard times.

Dobranski and Warrell understand Calgarians desire for new food and drinks and are excited to keep that desire alive.

This weekend, Brasserie is offering the public to continue to enjoy some classic French dishes on their takeout menu.

Winebar Kensington and ContainerBar, which Warrell and Dobranski also own will open on Monday, in line with the government’s re-opening plans.

Brasserie will be closed until all the renovations are done.
