Calgary Transit bus stolen, man drives through north neighbourhoods crashing cars

A man in his 30s was taken into custody after he drove a stolen bus through several north Calgary neighbourhoods Monday night.

Calgary police was called just before 6 p.m. Monday after reports that an unoccupied bus had been taken from the Lions Park LRT station.

The suspect drove the bus through four communities: Capitol Hill, Briar Hill, University Heights, St. Andrews Heights, Parkdale, along Memorial Drive and into Crescent Heights and Bridgeland.

According to police, several unoccupied vehicles were hit along the route and they’re asking anyone with damage to contact them.

The man was arrested around 6:15 p.m. Monday after a foot chase. Canine Unit members were able to subdue the man. Charges are pending.
