Calgary police seek man in connection with Sunalta shooting death

Calgary police are looking for information on a man they believe has information in a shooting death in Sunalta last week.

Police were called to an apartment building in the 1600 block of 15 Street SW around 1:15 a.m. on April 9 after reports of gunshots.

When officers arrived, they found a man with life-threatening injuries inside his vehicle, police said. He was taken to hospital where he later died.

After an autopsy was done, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified the victim as Jovaughan Meek, 28, of Calgary.

After further investigation, Calgary police said they believe that Taylor Calfchild, 24, has information on Meek’s death. Calfchild is also believed to go by the name Taylor Hall.

Calfchild is described as approximately 5’7” tall, with a medium build, brown eyes and black hair.

He has ties to Calgary and the Siksika Nation, southeast of Calgary, police said.
