SW Calgary shooting leaves one dead

An autopsy will be done and the victim will be identified at a later date, police said.

One person is dead after a southwest Calgary shooting overnight.

Calgary police were called to an apartment building in the 1600 block of 15 Street SW around 1:15 a.m. Thursday, after reports of gunshots.

When officers arrived, a man was found with life-threatening injuries. He was later transported to hospital.

The victim died in hospital, police said.

Calgary police homicide unit detectives are on scene and more information will be released when it’s available. The victim won’t be identified until an autopsy is complete, police said.
