Calgary police are looking for suspects in a targeted shooting on Boxing Day in the northwest.
Officers responded to a call just before 9 p.m. Dec. 26 after reports that shots were fired in the area of 16 Avenue and Home Road NW.
When police arrived, they found one person dead at the scene.
According to an autopsy completed by the medical examiner, the victim was identified as Farah Hersi Handule, 23, of Ontario. Police believe that Handule had been in Calgary since Christmas Eve.
“This is a targeted homicide carried out in a brazen way that leaves us very concerned for public safety. This easily could have resulted in a tragic outcome for innocent citizens who were in the area,” said Staff Sergeant Colin Chisholm of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit.
“We are hoping that information from the public will lead us to determining who is responsible for this.”
