Calgary events: Weekend things to do

We’ve got a handful of great ideas for you this weekend – with markets and carnivals and sports.

There’s this big thing called the Grey Cup in town and there are several events tied to this the whole family can enjoy… outside of the game. We’ve got a link below to more Grey Cup events.

Saturday, Nov. 23

YYC Alternative Winter Market

If you’re looking for a special something this holiday season give the YYC Alternative Market a try. Local small businesses will have their wares on display at this one-day only event.

Where: Inglewood Community Association Hall – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Heritage Park – Once Upon a Christmas

All the family activities you can handle at the annual Once Upon a Christmas at Heritage Park. It’s the opening weekend and the festive events will run right through until Dec. 22. Everything from carols to Santa’s petting zoo, there’s a little bit of something for everyone.

San Miguel en Carnaval – El Salvador’s Biggest Fiesta

This is the first ever El Salvador Fiesta in Calgary put on by the Calgary Salvadorian Folklore Association is a fundraiser for the local community. Food, dancing and more at this event that celebrates the city’s cultural community.

Sunday, Nov. 24

Grey Cup

While you might not have tickets to the CFL’s biggest game, we’re pretty sure you can find a watch party with friends or at one of the city’s great sports watering holes. Celebrate the CFL championship this weekend – it’s in Calgary after all!

All over the city! Kickoff starts at 4 p.m. Pre-game activites start at 3:30

Bend and Brunch – nosh by Nourish

Need a little more than just a cuppa joe to get the joints going on a Sunday morning? On the last Sunday of every month, nosh by Nourish and Yoga Nova Studio team up for a yoga session and then a bite to eat!

Calgary Zoo’s Zoolights

It’s back for the 23rd year! More than two million lights are a spectacle set up along the Calgary Zoo’s landscape, along with activities for the entire family. This is the opening weekend.  Did we mention there’s hot chocolate?
