Canada Cup E-Gaming Tournament 2019

What: One of Canada’s largest esports tournaments is in Calgary this weekend. Check out pro-gamers from more than 20 countries compete. There’s a gaming room and plenty of special guests scheduled to make an appearance like Dragon ballZ voice actors, stuntman Robin Shou and actor Cary Tagawa.

Calgary European Film Festival

Central Library Birthday Bash

The Central Library is celebrating its one year birthday with all kinds of events. LUKES Central Library/FB.

Calgary Climate Symposium

What: Connect with climate leaders, experts and City staff for a series of unique events all week long. Learn about riding your bike in winter, hear from young Calgarians on their concerns about climate change and see how you can take action to reduce your contribution to climate change. After Mourning: A Play Reading at Glenbow Museum

What: A play reading of the original script of After Mourning by Calgary playwright Mike Czyba. After Mourning is a play about Johanna Bonger, a custodian of all of Vincent van Gogh’s art. Hear how for 35 years, up to her death in 1925, Johanna Bonger was unwavering in her efforts and became the woman who saved van Gogh.

Pop-Up Farmers’ Market 

What: Check out plenty of locally grown produce and other products at the Pop-Up Market. The market is a sampling of vendors for Prairie Horizon Fresh Market as it prepares to open at New Horizon Mall in 2020.

War in Pieces Pop Up Gallery

What: Hear short, first-person stories told by serving Canadian soldiers, veterans and their families. War in Pieces reveals life in the Canadian military and the challenges and rewards that come with it.

Avenue’s Top 40 Under 40 Class of 2019 Gala

What: See who Calgarians nominated for Avenue’s Top 40 Under 40 program. Not only will you see this year’s class, but you can network with hundreds of people from the corporate community along with local celebrities and media.

Tuesday, Nov. 5

Resistance Town Hall by the Alberta Federation of Labour

What: Join the Alberta Federation of Labour as they protest the Alberta budget. As the largest labour organization in the province, the group wants to unite in downtown Calgary to be heard.

Calgary Flames vs. Arizona Coyotes

What: Head down to the Saddledome and watch the Calgary Flames take on the Arizona Coyotes.

Wednesday, Nov. 6

Perspectives Art Show

What: The Alex Community Health Centre is hosting its second Perspectives Art Show. It’s part of the organization’s inter-generational digital storytelling project. Featuring various artworks all available for sale.

Who’s in the Hall Wednesdays

Festival of Crafts

Glenbow Museum Free First Thursday Nights

What: On the first Thursday of every month, Glenbow is open late and admission is free. Check out various exhibits and art from Calgary and around the world.
