Community volunteerism during the Calgary Stampede

By Jacey Conway, Federation of Calgary Communities

For the 10 days of Calgary Stampede, communities come together and put on breakfasts, BBQ’s, parties and more, all supported by community members giving their time and energy.

No matter the job, volunteers worked with a smile on their face and a contagious positive attitude. Volunteers ranged from young to old, from new to old-pros, each one bringing enthusiasm and dedication wherever they helped.

We recognize the many community associations who worked hard to plan and put on great community events to celebrate the Calgary Stampede and we thank all of the volunteers for their hard work and many hours of donated time to make the Stampede great for everyone!

“Stampede wouldn’t be possible without the help of the volunteers,” said Mark Ambrose, veteran volunteer with the Batter Boys.

Here’s a look at some of the amazing volunteers who helped during this year’s Calgary Stampede – they deserve some recognition!
