Two dead in explosion, fire in northwest Calgary

Two people died and a third was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after an explosion at a home in northwest Calgary Saturday.

Both the Arson Unit and the Calgary Police Service homicide unit are investigating and believe the fire, at a home in the 0-100 block of Kincora Drive NW, was not accidental. They believe the incident is the result of a domestic dispute and a suspect is not being sought at this time.

It happened around 2 p.m. Saturday after calls from neighbours reporting an explosion.

When crews arrived, they found two people had died and a third was injured. Paramedics took a woman to hospital in potentially life-threatening condition.

No further victims were located after the Calgary Fire Department finished their search.

Autopsies on the two victims are expected to be completed on May 27.
