It’s Easter long weekend, but the good folks at the City of Calgary will still be providing some services to make sure you have a hoppy holiday.
Family Friendly Activities
Want to go swimming? No problem! Southland Leisure Centre and Village Square Leisure Centre will both be open on Good Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On Easter Sunday, Village Square Leisure Centre only will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. All other city aquatic centres will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
Calgary parks and pathways are open as normal. Why not get outside for a walk or a bike ride?
You can find other activities on this weekend here.
If you need to park a car when you get where you’re going, holiday rates will be in effect at select Calgary Parking Authority parkades and surface lots. However, regular rates will be in effect at the Calgary Zoo, TELUS Spark and Heritage Park.
If you’d like to spoil a good walk, as Mark Twain once wrote, four of the city’s golf courses will be open on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. They are:
- Confederation Park (and Driving Range)
- Maple Ridge
- McCall Lake (Par 3 and Driving Range)
- Shaganappi Point (18 and 9 hole course and Driving Range)
Calgary Transit will operate at Sunday-level service on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
Calgary Flames Playoffs
So, we realize this may be a moot point after Friday, but there are some parking restrictions in place on 17 Avenue during home and away games. Please follow @calgarypolice on Twitter or listen to local media for updates on those road closures during the game(s).
Street sweepers will continue to be out in full force during the long weekend. Watch for signs on your street and be sure to move your vehicles, or face a fine. Remember, the city is using ParkPlus technology to get photos of those who don’t move their cars.
What about Easter Monday?
Everything should be back to normal on Easter Monday (April 22) , with one exception: The city’s Soccer Centre at 7000 48St. SE will be closed on Easter Monday except for previous bookings.
