City, Calgary Flames, local businesses partner up for free, fan-friendly viewing parties

Not everyone gets to enjoy the buzz of being inside the Scotiabank Saddledome to cheer on the Calgary Flames during the playoffs.

The next best thing to being there is hanging out alongside hundreds of other fans with a massive big screen TV to watch the game outdoors.

The City of Calgary, in cooperation with local businesses and NHL hockey broadcast partners,  have put together two locations for fans of all ages to enjoy the playoff hockey atmosphere… FREE.

For all home games (beginning April 11), fans are invited to Lot 3 Stampede Park (SEE MAP BELOW) where there will be a giant screen, live music, Harvey the Hound, face painting and other food and drink specials. Fans can join in the fun three hours prior to game time until after the game.

For all away games (beginning April 15), fans can gather at Olympic Plaza in downtown Calgary for a community viewing party. There will be a big screen, family activities and food trucks. Everyone is encouraged to bring a lawn chair or a blanket to sit on.

This site will open one hour prior to puck drop for away games.

This is a great time for our community to celebrate the Calgary Flames and support local businesses,” said Mayor Naheed Nenshi, in a prepared statement.

“Make sure you’re playing safe and having fun!”
