A $30,000 collection containing rare and expensive coins was stolen from a Calgary garage last month, say Calgary police.
Police believe the theft was carried out either the night of Feb. 21 or early morning of Feb. 22. Sometime between 8 p.m. and 9 a.m., the suspect broke into the garage located at the 3000 block of 40 St SW, according to police.
When the homeowner went to work at 9:50 a.m., he immediately noticed the safe containing the coins had been stolen. He also noticed that several items in the garage had been moved, but not stolen.
Police are looking for help within the coin collector community, asking those who might purchase such coins to be on the lookout.
