WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL: SAIT Trojans sweep Lethbridge in first half of home-and-home

LETHBRIDGE, ALTA., (Oct. 19, 2018) — The SAIT Trojans women’s volleyball team were awful guests Friday night.

Playing in the home opener of the Lethbridge College Kodiaks, the Trojans wrapped things up quickly in a 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-21) victory in their Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) contest played in Lethbridge, Alta.

“Our first contact was really good tonight, and I thought we served and passed the ball really well,” said Trojans head coach, Art O’Dwyer. “That really put a lot of pressure on them.”

SAIT moves to 2-2 on the season, while the Kodiaks fall to 1-2.

After taking Set 1, the Trojans got out to an impressive 12-1 lead in Set 2 to pave the way to a second-set victory.

With a 2-0 lead, the Trojans kept applying the pressure and closed out the match.

“We did a really good job of putting a stop to any momentum they were able to get,” O’Dwyer added. “We scrambled hard and made them play the ball three or four times to get a point.”

No statistics were made available from the game.

The teams will finish their weekend series tomorrow night at 6pm at SAIT Gymnasium.
