Foo Fighters reschedule shows in Calgary, Edmonton

EDMONTON — The Foo Fighters have rescheduled shows in Edmonton and Calgary due to a problem similar to one that recently forced U2 to end a show in Germany — their singer has lost his voice.

A news release from Rogers Place in Edmonton says that following a Foo Fighters performance Saturday at Safeco Field in Seattle, Dave Grohl suffered a loss of voice and is now on vocal rest.

The band was scheduled to play Rogers Place on Tuesday and at the Calgary Scotiabank Saddledome on Thursday.

Bono of U2 lost his voice during a performance in Berlin on Saturday, forcing the cancellation of the show after only a few songs.

The news release from Rogers Place quotes Grohl as saying, “That’s the last time I ever make out with Bono.”

It says the Foo Fighters’ Concrete and Gold tour will resume Sept. 8 in Vancouver, and replacement shows for Edmonton and Calgary will happen next month.
